His research deals with optimization methods in the context of artificial intelligence, in particular evolutionary algorithms.

Since 1995, he has implemented artificial intelligence systems in the power industry both domestically and internationally. He has authored or co-authored about 150 scientific papers and promoted 9 PhDs.

Piotr Arak, PhD is the Chief Economist at VeloBank and an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Economic Sciences at the University of Warsaw. He serves as a Non-Resident Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council and is a board member of the Brussels-based think tank, the European Roundtable on Climate Change and Sustainable Transition (ERCST). He has over a dozen years of experience in economic analysis. His professional background includes work with the consulting firm Deloitte, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the analytical center Polityka Insight, the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, and the Ministry of Administration and Digitization. He was a co-founder of the Polish Economic Institute, which he led from 2018 to 2023. He studied at the University of Warsaw, the SGH Warsaw School of Economics, the Université du Québec à Montréal, and the Harvard Kennedy School.

He has been associated with the transport and logistics industry for over 25 years. In 2010, he headed Fracht FWO Polska as its managing director, and since 2019 he has been the President of the company’s management board. He gained his professional experience as a merchant navy officer, and then developed his professional career in international logistics companies. A graduate of the Navigation Faculty of the Maritime University of Szczecin. He completed postgraduate studies in leadership psychology at the Business School of the Warsaw University of Technology and Advanced Management Program at IESE in Barcelona. International logistics expert, panellist and speaker at conferences and economy events in Poland and abroad.

Tomasz Burzyński has been working on renewable energy projects since 2017. He has gained experience in the following areas: photovoltaic project development and securing financing for renewable energy projects under the project finance model.

• Developer of 22 photovoltaic projects, from the preparation stage through to the RTB (“ready to build”) stage.
• Total capacity of completed projects: 223 MW of installed capacity.
• Project types depending on the financing model: 4 auction-based projects, 1 grant-funded project, 10 projects with PPA contracts, and 7 projects based on market-based electricity sales.

Director of the Center for Innovation at the Warsaw University of Technology. From 2019 to 2023, he served as the President of the Łukasiewicz Research Network, which comprises 22 research institutes and provides comprehensive solutions for business. Professor Andrzej Szarata, Ph.D., Eng., was born in Krynica-Zdrój in 1975. He graduated from the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice, majoring in road and highway construction (ranking among the top 5% of graduates). He has been associated with the Cracow University of Technology since 1999, when he began working as a research and teaching assistant at the Institute of Road and Railway Engineering.

In 2006, he defended his doctoral thesis at the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Cracow University of Technology. From 2013 to 2016, he served as Deputy Director for Research and Industry Cooperation at the Institute of Road and Railway Engineering. He was awarded the title of professor on September 28, 2020. He served as Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the Cracow University of Technology from 2016 to 2020 and from 2020 to 2023.

He has published over 90 scientific articles, both as author and co-author, including two monographs and four co-authored (including two in English). He has organized over 20 industry-specific scientific and technical conferences, and led 10 research projects, both national and international, conducted at the Cracow University of Technology (including Civitas Caravel, MAX, Shape-It, TraCit, Posmetrans, GSP, and Capital). He has developed transportation models for numerous Polish cities, including Wrocław, Poznań, Gdańsk, Rzeszów, Warsaw, Kraków, and Kielce, as well as transportation models for the Masovian and Lesser Poland Voivodeships. He is also the co-author of the Thessaloniki (Greece) transportation model.

Professor Andrzej Szarata is a member of numerous prestigious scientific and advisory bodies, including the Council for Higher Education, Science, and Innovation under the President of the Republic of Poland, the Transport Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the Construction Commission of the Kraków Branch of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the Task Force for Large-Scale Development Projects under the Committee on Spatial Development of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the Commission on Technical Sciences of the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences, the Polish Association of Civil Engineers and Technicians, and the Association of Communication Engineers and Technicians.
